The annual Day on the Alpaca Farm will be held on September 4, 2010 at KeLe Alpacas, Kewaunee, WI. The public is invited to tour the alpaca farm, enjoy live music, visit with a number of area alpaca breeders, walk alpacas through the woods and enjoy an on-site art show. Spinning, weaving and felting demonstrations open for public participation will be performed throughout the day along with children’s games, face painting, bubbles to blow and more.

Food is always available with offerings like burgers, brats and booyah. Day on the Alpaca Farm is a fundraiser for the Violence Intervention Project (VIP) which provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Kewaunee County. There is no charge for admission to the event, but people are encouraged to make a donation. The alpacas do their fundraising part by taking walks with visitors for $2.00, giving kisses and providing great photo opportunities.

Attendees are welcome to pull up a lawn chair and watch the cria (baby alpacas) romp in the pasture. Alpacas originated in South America and have been in the United States since 1984. They are raised for their fiber, which is finer, stronger, softer and warmer than wool. It is used to make fine garments that most people can wear next to their skin. The Artbeet Art Show will feature area artists selling and demonstrating their art. Artbeet is a non-profit organization set up to promote the arts in Kewaunee County. To raise money to support their events and projects, there will be a silent auction of the artist’s work.

Konop’s Meat Market, Krohn’s Dairy and Parallel 44 are all located within a mile and a half of the event and will be donating a portion of their sales on September 5th to the Violence Intervention Project. Attendees also have the opportunity to purchase the best meats, cheeses and wines at these local businesses while supporting the Violence Intervention Project. KeLe Alpacas is located approximately 15 miles east of Green Bay on Highway 29 and 2 miles south on County AB to E1870 Pine Grove Road.

KeLe Alpacas is located at E1870 Pine Grove Road, Kewaunee, WI 54216 - Due to construction, watch for signs (County AB is open to Pine Grove Road).Phone: (920) 845-5571 Email: kelealpaca@aol.com
